Is this the latest and greatest tracker? If so what is the longest it ranges consistently without losing the dog?
Also, is there another upgrade coming anytime soon that you have heard about that is supposed to be better?

Ive had the 220 with DC 30/40s and Ive had the 320 with 40/50s. Now I have the Alpha with the TT15s. I do believe the Alpha and TT15s are better than previous combos when it comes to range and dependability. For some reason, the Alpha will still give me a ? when a dog may be at 300 yards sometimes, just like the 220 and the 320 did.
I have two hand held Alphas. I hook one to a long range antenna mounted to my ATV and the other I keep in a pouch on my hip. The one hooked to a long range antenna hardly ever looses any signal and tracks very well at a mile or more. I try not to let my dogs get much more than a mile so I cant say with absolute certainty that it will always track over a mile. I believe the one I carry in my pouch tracks further than my 320, but nothing that is going to wow you beyond belief.
I was perfectly happy with my 220/DC 30s and I was perfectly happy with my 320 /DC 50s. Only reason I made the switch was to try to stay up to date. I do like the shock feature on the alpha and I use it more than I thought I would to bump dogs and get them to come back. I like that the Alpha can have a lot more dogs loaded in it. I can also track both my handhelds using the other handheld, I think that is very nice.
If Marshal or someone else comes out with something better, I would be interested, but I am happy with my alpha. The hand helds are rechargeable, I really like not having to replace AA batteries.

I lost my 220 while hooked to the long range antenna...stopping the wheeler and checking locations...then instead of putting it in my storage bag most of the time would set it in my lap and it fell out somewhere and I must of ran over it and sunk it in the mud...I tended to keep it on my lap so it could keep tracking...For sure on the next one I get I will have a mount on my wheeler and a holster for my hip...these items are not cheap...
I have been hearing rumors on the Marshall for many years...I will not keep waiting but if anyone knows anything for sure on them I might be willing to wait...

If you take hunting serious and training dogs the Alfa is the only way to go in my opinion ! I don't see how they could improve it . Only thing they could improve is the gps wire on the collars .

I am with JP. I feel that the Alpha 100 and TT-15 collars are the best products for tracking and training dogs. I am also a huge fan of the DriveTrack 70 as it makes it much easier to keep up with the dogs when I am roading which is the only way I hunt.

I really like the alpha in my opinion it is easy to learn how to operate it. I usely start losing dogs at about 1.2 miles it usely pick em up for little bit and lose em again I have picked em up to 1.5 I have factory long range antennas on my TT 15 collars and on my handheld I have had better luck out off the TT 15 than the TT 10s. I also bought the extended range antenna from double u supply that you hold in your hand and antenna pulls out I like it to if I lose em I can put it on and pick em right back up I have picked em up at 3 miles with it before it was in some kinda open country though

There is a astro 430 that just came out.it tracks dc 50 up callars 20 dog capacity like the alpha but it does not have a shocker and it does not track Handhelds. For me i already had a tritronic 2 mile shock system so i didnt go for the alpha.the xtra bells and whistles i didnt need

i like my old 220's the best but I lost my best one and now I bought a second hand 320 and I don't like it .... everytime we go hunt'n I end up tracking someone elses dog ...... and until one is cut off I loose signal on mine basically it tracks whichever dog is closer ....I never had that problem with my 220 ..... plus the map feature isn't as good to me ..... my son has the birdeye and he tracks good with his .....I haven't tried the 100 but have had several people tell me if you don't watch it you will shock your dog .....

Exactly... and how can a telemetry company even compete with a GPS company on a GPS system? Even if they were to come out with a "better" system, you know Garmin will come back and blow it out of the water. Reuben, in my opinion there isn't anything better than the Alpha. I've had mine over 3 years now and love it... yes I had the 220 and 320 when they came out also. |

hyan...right there at the bottom right corner you will see the double U advertisement...it has quite a bit of information on all the units...that is where I read all the info on the different units/collars...very well written and easy to read...
