Yea i had a bull dog that had heartworms. he would get real tired real fast. Was breathing funny and hard everytime he got excited. take the dog to a vet to see if it is heartworms. they can treat it. I dont know of anything that you can get over the counter to get rid of them. Some one else might. Only thing i know that you can buy is stuff to prevent. Sorry i cant help ya out. Hope the dog gets better

Heartworm test is only like 10 bucks. That would be my guess too. Hookworms seem to be bad when it is wet outside and if your anywhere around here its probably wet.

I dont know about the breathing hard. But, If your dog has hookworms you can treat it with Panacur, Its always worked well for us. I had a dog that was loosing lots of weight and looking real tired and weak...but he was still eating. He had mucus with a little bit of blood in his stool, so we took him to the vet and It turned out to be hookworms. He was so aneamic that he had to have a blood transfusion. If it is Hookworms make sure to start treating your dog because it can get worse. Also, because our dog was still wanting to eat, it helped keep him alive so if your dog is not eating I would really be careful and watch him while your treating him. I hope your dog gets better. Keep us posted -Cristina

The symptoms you describe can be from a variety of problems but Im with everyone else in guessing heart worms. Adult heart worm get into the lugs causing irreversible damage and pneumonia. Get him checked asap.
