Better know as the great dane ...after I lost my bull dog I was a little intent on getting my dogs up here from Hawaii after some time I figured out it wouldn't be smart due to cost seeing as how I could buy finished dogs for the price to get pups up here so I set out to find dogs like mine after some looking I was unable to find a grayhound to start the base of my line and my German shepherd turned out to not want nothing to do with a pig it was back to the drawing board I looked onine and one dog kept comming up the great Dane after a lot of re search I found that the great Dane was breed for the main purpose  to hunt boars in Germany giving it the name German boarhound it is believed they we're a cross of a mastiff witch was used to hunt boar but didn't have enough speed and a wolfhound wich had the speed but not the hardness of a mastiff they made the cross and the boarhound was born it is also a desedent of the Bullenbeisser wich boxers, apbt, dogos and bulldogs still to this day have some blood of even tho the pure bullenbeisser is now extinct  the boxer at 70% has the most followed by the dane at 50% and others have less then 30% it is believed that this gives the dogs hardness and the gaminess to catch and fight after  the breed was imported to the usa it was used for dog shows mostly and breed to show standards instead of working dogs though the boarhound days we're over due to the Danes loving and calm personality now seen in todays dogs after talking to a few people here in the USA and also in Australia  where there are used alot for hunting in pure and cross form and really just believing that it was not possible for a dog that was made to hunt from Egyptian times could be breed out of those instincts in 100 years but yet dogs like the boxer or the apbt that we're only started 200 years ago still have the hunt and prey drive we see today so I said the hell with it what do I have to lose got on Craigslist and got me two good looking specimens bolth young bitchs but of age to start first 8 months old second 13 months bolth smaller (still will fill out to over 100 pounds) but heavy muscle I also watched them play and move and boy could they move I spent on bolth dogs a whopping $200 from separate people I got them home and have worked with them in woods to see how they move and to my amazement they could moved faster then my curs they seam to pick the brush apart like a deer or elk would they turn like a dam pig spining on his rear end fighting off rough cur dogs I sent one of them to north tx to a real good friend and kept one with me 2 days after getting droped off my 8 month old went on her first hunt and grabed the first pig she seen with the other dogs owned by deansure it wasn't the ear but o we'll she was trying to catch at 8 moths old and her first pig I couldn't be more happy till she went a second time and did thisyes her and the other dog went 1k yards so she does roll out then this yes second pig she's on the ear then the next huntsure there not big but hey she's catching or trying to she's going out and hunting with the other dogs the best part is I can have them around my young kids or use them as protection for my house because of there personality but you get then in the woods and it's on like chong my dane that I have here with me has only bin to the woods to work out and get used to moving in thick brush she has found coons and chased rabits she uses her nose like a hound with it to the ground taking sents and rolling on them fast she has only seen one pig and clamped it on the neck and tried to carry it back to me lil 20 pound pig so I think they will be good dogs and if any one is looking for a grayhound or stag type dog and can't find one give a dane a try you may just be pleasantly surprised to find they are good boarhounds as they we're breed to be  Cool  Cool  Cool will by happy to answer questions in PMS I AM NOT GOING TO ARGUE WITH ANY ONE THAT IS GOING TO TELL ME THEY WONT WORK BECAUSE THEY ALREAY ARE

They look like they are doing good, and I know that the guy you sent the other too will put it in the right situations to succeed, the rest will be up to the dog. Keep us posted on their progress.

Kai, good luck with their continued progress bro.

I am pulling for em... I got of an emotional stake as well..
Maxine I need to find a safe space  lol

But I think dean do his best to put that one in suitable situations to progress and I sure wouldn't count em out just on the breed

Like the updates and souls live to see em running with the traditional American dogs in the future and see how they stack up.

Best wishes bro

Best of luck with them, looks like they are headed in the right direction for sure. The only thing i dont like about them is the same thing i dislike about american bulldogs.....the size. They are just more dog that i care to mess with but theres not a thing wrong with em.
