I've got 2 vest from Robbie that are tough, the industrial felt is really hard to cut through, overall a good product and price wise can't be beat. I like them well enough I started selling them at work.

I run a hard core vest the original and cought plenty of huge hogs with it I've never had my dog get any cuts through the vest and only have one hole through it and it didn't cut the dog when I first got it it would rub my dog between the front legs but now its broke in. It has been well worth the money but I will get the leg flaps on my next one!

True....ballistic nylon is tough but much heavier than kevlar.  Most people are looking for the most protection yet as light as possible.  We offer two different vests that have ballistic nylon in them.  Check out G. and N. at:   http://stores.intuitwebsites.com/WildBoarUSA/-strse-Hog-Dog-Gear-cln-Vests/Categories.bok

Hands down we sell more Guardian Kevlar vests than any other vest we offer.  We seldom get any negative feedback and have many repeat customers and friends of customers that like what they have observed on their friends' dogs.  However we understand - everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

We appreciate hearing from all of you and take each of your comments into consideration.  Most of you will never know the lengths Wild Boar USA goes to make  the best products we can to offer to our customers, and we are continually looking for ways to improve with new designs and materials.

Also, we are happy to do custom orders.  Just call us and we will work with you to make the product you are wanting if at all possible.

Bullet proof vests are loose weave with many layers dog vests are tighter weave.  Most reputable vests makers make a good vest just have to pick which one u like money can afford and fits your dog. I have a hardcore vest and like mine light as can be.

hogs are like people , one 200 lb hog is a bad a$$ and another is a sissy , Ive ran gardians for 4 years , I ordered a new one two years ago and the first time I went out we met up with a 330lb bad a$$ super man hog , trashed my dogs , $  550 at the vet , the new vest had 7 holes in it , it was unbelievable , weve killed a lot of hogs since him and never had nothing like that happen again ,  the vest did save my dogs lifes ,  I e-mailed ugly dog and sent both vest in for repair  a guardian and a guardian kevlar  which only one was brand new [ the kevlar ] a few days later in the mail I recieved two brand new kevlars for nothing , very stand up people  , good luck

I needed a cutvest so I traded a guy on here a cutvest for a papered catahoula puppy, it is from Tejas Outdoors, havent gotten the chance to use it yet but it looks good, I usually buy all my gear from Xtreme outdoorsm Robby is a good guy, replaced a lead that I bought, broke the first time I used it, he replaced it after I took the lead and showed him I didnt ask him to replace it just asked if it was possible to fix it and he replaced it no charge so he get alot of my business because I trust him

Thinking about trying Wild Boar USA but havent had the extra money to yet

i too have had the ugly dog vest and was very disappointed, one of my dogs was not lucky enough to make it after bein torn thru, others have made it but were still cut thru the vest... I have a hoot gibson one and some from mike kelly that are cheaper and better proection imo... and it dont take big teeth or big hogs to make big cuts, matter of fact most of my cuts come from cutters less than two inches. Bottom line is not that the dogs survived even tho it was cut thru, bottom line is it mite not next time on a product that has done failed. JMO

I have several uglydog guardian kevlar  and several other makes of vests. The basic  guardian 2 layer vest has been poked through several times and damaged the dog. I was not real happy because two of the hogs did not have much size...however they had good teeth.

I went and ordered the same vest with 4 layers....It has taken considerable punishment and held up good. I really like the coverage and ability of my dogs movement. I would reccommend this vest to anyone wanting maximum coverage...just make sure you order extra layers of kevlar.

BoarMom,

Long time ago The crainers used to make the bulky vests that were not very flexible. They were super tough and it seems the weave had a lot to do with punture resistance. I believe they used some type of conveyer belt material that was used in lumber mills.

What do you think about cutting out patches of this material and sewing it into the most likely areas where puntures will occur? This could be one of the inside layers...Should make it a better vest without adding much weight yet maintain flexibility.

WILD BOAR USA MAKES 7 different vests I wish yall would say which make of vest you are speaking of.

For those that said their dog had 7 holes holes in it how long was you was your dog caught?

Reuben, That felt material J.Crainer used to put in his vests was too stiff it rubbed the dogs, made them unable to move made them like a turtle on their backs, and when used in peices inside the vests it would rubb holes through the seams of the other nylon ballistic materials used, therefore manufacturing went to a more pliable felt used as a layer that would make it agile for dog and absorb blunt impact for the dog, That is the original UGLYDOG VEST, and again people comlained and why we offered several different types.
I even sold Larry Parris vest for 4 years, and what did people do? COMPLAIN, they are TOO HOT, THEY RUB MY DOGS LEGGS, can you change this can you change that.

What its worth always Somebody will whine, I HAVE USED MOST THE VESTS out there in the woods on real dogs on real hogs, if a dog is stiff he is more likely to be injured when he does not have full range of motion and even worse when he is left trying to hold a hog without a human handler there to back them up. A dog that is caught for 10 minutes on a good hog with cutters, does not matter what kind of vest you have on the dog, You better have said your prayers, hope you are lucky that day. You will be one of those making posts on the internet about how you lost your catch dog to a mean hog.

I don't own any part of any dog supply company, but I ask yo to consider this-

HOW MANY DOG SUPPLY COMPANIES PUT BACK INTO THE COMMUNITY? how many sponsor events you participate in ? How many try to help hunting dogs find their way back to their owners? How many of those other companies are taking your money? how many are on this website listening to what you have to say to try and improve the relationship with the hunters and customers? Just something to THINK about, where your money goes when and next time your dog is lost wearing a cut collar will somebody get a call and try to finf whom it belongs to? or does the manufacturer of the collar consider it a hassle to get all these lost dog calls.
