We had ours done at a Plott Days event in Tennessee. That was the first time we'd branded any dogs.. They turned out Ok, not as nice as yours, though. Some bare skin spots on one or two and a place where it didnt get quite enough; the hair grew back normally.. it can still be read, though.. i think we will probably invest in our own iron, next time.

I have a guy coming this Friday to do mine but I was just wondering did you have to fight with the dog to make them be still to do the branding? What is the best way you found to make them be still? |

I think they look real good bud. I do my own. Had a brand made but we use liquid nitrogen because it's faster as far as the length of hold time. Some dogs stand and some do cart wheels. So we use lots of hands, tie them up, but the best way is to put them in a breeding stand like the old pit men use to use. Two things I've learned is to make sure the skin is really clean and to let that iron get really cold. The frost should really climb the handle. I only hold it for 6 or 7 seconds with the liquid nitrogen. You have to be able to judge the thickness of the skin. Thinner means less time and thicker means more. I also rolled or rocked it around too drastically at first. Roll it but don't break contact on one side while trying to roll it and make better contact on the other. Those are some of my experiences, I'm no pro though!

I put cut vest on em hang em by vest one person can hold em one person brand em usely don't have much help around when I do it some of em don't mind it much some go crazy you have to hold it alot long with dry ice than with liquid nitrogen but I have only ever used dry ice I have had some horses done they used liquid nitrogen
