Heading down the section to go hunt and dogs winded off the 4-wheeler. They were sounding off big time, so we dumped them to it. Before you know it, they are 850 and bay for a minute. We sat and waited, they were moving to us. They kind of split up and my buddies dog says treed and setting the bark indicator off. Mine tracks to him and he shows treed and setting bark indicator off. The bay breaks and they are coming closer to us still. They get to 250 from us and the young dogs get there. My dog is pretty open and he was talking to them. We let them settle a little bit and started to ease to them. Bay breaks and they go 75 yards east, stop and bay again. We get to 60 yards and think it must be a good one, cause they haven't caught anything and we don't hear any hogs. Send the bulldogs and they don't go 10 feet and it breaks, I had put my alpha under my overalls and wasn't looking at it. Think they light out and hear one of the pups bark 3 times. Snatch my buddies bulldog as he goes by me and leash him up. Stand around for a minute, can't hear anything and look to see where ol Hammer, my bulldog is. Shows all the dogs treed at 70 yards walk up and see an old foe caught out.
He's missing an eye, only has 2/3 of one ear, but he is still a double handful.
One of the young dogs got a couple little pokes, he's gonna have to learn the business end means, business. We had this old warrior loaded and back to the house in less than an hour. Nice hunt. He never grunted or squealed 1 time with dogs on him. He's still tough. Hadn't seen him in a year and a half, little older, but still a good one. The last time I saw him he cut several dogs pretty good.
You can see the old bad eye, right there.
