Went and kicked out with some buddies yesterday afternoon. First place come up empty. Hit the 2nd spot just before sundown and get a little ways in to ranch. Dogs all kinda act like they smell something but kate was only one who could pick the track up and she flat stuck it. .67 and she come bayed on a boar hog in his bed. loaded all the other dogs and make our way to her. Against better judgment I sent a young yella dog in there to help her cause ole boys were takin a while with Bulldogs. And sure enough young dog got in there and kate tried him. Hog goes to fighting and then it's just kate baying. Young yella dog come back to us with a small poke up high on her shoulder. Called tim who was on the other side of this thicket and told him to send them Bulldogs kate liable to just had her ass whooped. They send em and we never heard them hit, hog never made a sound. Kate's bark changes and I told dawson they're caught let's go. Crawl in to the thicket me and dawson coming from one end, justin and tim coming from exact opposite. Met in the middle and me and dawson were in a bind. No way to stand up and looking hog right in his eyes. Somehow Tim managed to scoop a leg and lunge forward and get him stuck all in one single motion. Wasn't quite sure how it worked but glad it did. No cutters as they were both broke but his whetters did a job on kate and weezy. They'll be good in a few weeks.

hit another spot after that boar and kate and Annie took a track about .75 and hit a sounder in the open and couldn't get nothing else to stand besides this piglet. Lightfoot had to get a picture

Yes sir.....it was one of those bays that had all the signs that it was about to get western and could go from bad to worse at the drop of a hat.  Ol' big nose Kate had already been bayed on this boat for a while by the time we made it close.  We split up so we could come in from both sides and somehow me and ol Tim took the absolute worse path to get close.  Could've followed the fence line and put us right where we needed up cutting Bulldogs loose, but instead, we took a "shortcut" or so we thought, and after dragging Bulldogs through briars, army crawling, and getting somewhat close, we sent them.  Like Slim said, didn't hear anything except Kate change the tone of her bark.  Everyone crawled in, them boys coming from the other side had that hog looking them in the eyes at one point, nose to nose. Tim went to leg it and it swung around back to us.  Somehow as he's falling down, I get it legged, and he puts one right in the heart as he finish his fall.  As much as I wanted to get this one tied, there was no way to do it without getting dogs and ourselves wrecked.  And it was hell dragging him out dead, 200+yards through briars, don't know how we would've done it with him alive.  One of those hunts that you're cussing the whole way through, until it's over, and you realize why you love doing this.  I appreciate the invite once again bubba.  Until next time hoss.

An adventurous hunt, those tight places definitely raises the adrenalin level.
