Before too long they will stop using the forumla that we need. When they pick on the fact that dog owners are using it they will stop making it. They also make one of the flea treatments. Cross use of products is bad for their bottom  dollar.

Ortho Tree and Shrub Insect Control 32 oz

Martin's Dominion Tree and Shrub Insect Control 32oz

Gordon's Tree and Shrub Insect Killer-sold at TSC

All the same thing as the old Bayer tree and Shrub w/o the fertilizer in it.

Your exactly right. Imidacloprid is manufactured by Bayer Cropscience (part of Bayer AG) and sold as Advantage and other trade names. Some speculate that Bayer caught wind of the cross-use of the "Bayer Tree and Shrub" and added additives known to be harmful to pets(Nitrogen).

I use Martin's dominion tree and shrub, same active ingrediant that you need and about 6-8 dollars cheaper. I get it at the local feed store.

Anybody used the Ortho brand. I put it on 3 of my dogs last night and about 30 minutes they were all going nuts scratching and whining. Its almost like it pissed off the fleas and they all started biting. I let this go on for an hour or so then gave them all baths and there fine now.

been using the Ortho max for about 2 years and it has eliminated my flea problem. also has twice the strength.

How much are you putting on the dogs and where? Do you spray their area as well?

Chad,

I looked at a package of advantage and then calculated off of their vial...A 20 pound to 50 pound dog should get about 15 ccs or mils between shoulders and down the back is how I do it. I usually use about 10 mils and it still works on my dogs.

Just make sure you are using rubber gloves and rub it down to the skin. My dogs are on concrete slabs so I haven't had to spray. I have heard of others spraying the area and the sleeping area as well. I am willing to bet it will work.

Permethrin 10 works good on dogs and good for the area where the dog hangs out as well as where he sleeps.

I usually get by with treating my dogs once or twice a year...

I have also read on here where the fleas are getting immune to the Bayer tree and shrub. most of the bayer will be  0.75% active ingredient but the Ortho Max is 1.47% and I calculated off of Ortho Max...With the bayer it would take 30 mils. Probably why it is not working for others because not using enough...

The only one that works is the Bayer whos 1st ingrediant starts with Imiad....

Just dont mix with water just like front line. works great for fleas, not ticks
