Since I just sold my box and am in the process of building another one, a trailor, and kennels. I decided why not add more to the plate. My Dad has a pretty god amount of wood working tools. I was wondering have any of yall ever built a Nice box out of wood? Well I think Iam going to try and make one as my winter until I get the grandaddy built. I want to seal it and put some nice Aluminum fixtures. thanks in advance

Heck yeah you should make one out of Bo dark wood so it will last, but might wear out your dads tools in the process.

I built a new wood dog box last year and tried some things that seem to work real well. I love the movable dividers, I am going to build another one this winter and do it the same just add two catch dog boxes in front facing out to each side. Going to be better quality next time but this test model has done well. Box is 3'deep x 6'wide x 2'tall, 2' tall is to short for my catch dogs next one will be 2' 6". Box has 3 doors across the back. The new thing is 3 removable dividers. I can change the set up real easy buy sliding out or moving dividers. I can have: 1- 3x6 box 2- 3x3 boxes 3- 2x3 boxes or 1- 2x3 with 1-4x4 It has worked great so far, a coat of paint and she is done. Only took 2 sheets of ply-wood, 5 2x4's, and some 2x2's. Paul T

I change the dividers all the time, just tip it up and move them. It has been real handy, I also have 5 spots to hook dogs up on the outside, 3 on the top and 2 on the back. It carries a lot of dogs and keeps them split up how ever I need.

Built one a few years back. Double decker 3 on bottom 4 on top. Painted it white with vents and ventilation throughout the top of each deck. Keeps dogs cool in summer, warm in winter. Painted with exterior paint keep in barn when not in use, still looks brand new.Put expanded metal from inside of holes for ventilation, this keeps dogs from chewing through it.

Approximately 48" tall Bottom deck is tall enough just to clear fenders. Then second deck is on top of that. And overhangs about a foot on each side. The bottom box was built separate from top box and then the two were screwed together. The bottom box is 48" or just wide enough to allow it to slide between fender wells.
