Usally hit cow pasture after a light rain... then it's rainbows and dinosaurs

Around here, in southeast LA, bout a month and a half each year in spring there are chanterelles everywhere.
Can't hardly look into the woods around my house without seeing large patches in every direction.
We find em hunting all the time as well in neighboring parishes.
There are oyster mushrooms too. But I've never harvested or eaten any. They have a lookalike that is toxic and I just don't know enough to be confident I'd get the right one.
Something about oyster grow on dead willow and the poisonous one grows on gum or something. Def don't quote me on that. Lol
Supposed to be morells around here as well. I've never found one. But don't really go lookin either.

The gold chanterelles are easy to spot. And the toxic look a like to them doesn't grow in LA I think it's called golden top or something....

The gold chanterelles you spoke of, how do you go about fixing them to eat

Put a bunch in a pot and sweat em down and make a gravy and top stuff with em or make omelet or anything you do with a regular mushroom. They get a lot mushyer than the store bought shrooms. And sweat down smaller. They hold more water. You got to use em quick cause they wilt pretty fast. And got to pick em right when they pop up cause they don't last long on the ground either.
Google chanterelle recipes there are tons on the web.

If I can get this new ph. figured out I will post some pics. We have picked & ate Chantrelle mushrooms. They are more of a light orange color but they are delicious. We will cook them in a stick of butter, add some teriyaki sauce, some woosterchier sauce, a lil mustard cook them down & pour over chicken pasta, steaks or pork chops. Your welcome. lol
