Nice pups you have there. Have you raised many of the pocahontas dogs? The reason I ask is, I hunted with one that was real heavy line bred. He was silent and plenty salty. He hunted hard but he was real houndy on track, low headed and a lot slower. He was also a little heavier made, kinda broad and heavy muscled. His want to made him in my opinion. To me that's what really makes most dogs what they are but that's another topic. I saw several litters of pups out of this dog and they all seemed to be real slow maturing. To me, most of them were just going through the motions until they hit the 2 1/2 -3yr old mark. None of the females bred to him were related so I figured it had to be something from him. Is this something from the pocahontas line or just that dog?

I appreciate the comments guys. I’ve raised a couple litters off the Pocahontas blood. They all do seem to be slow to mature but once they turn on they make good hounds. This is my first cross over some old white hollow blood but I’m liking what I’m seeing so far

I have raised three male pups that are 1/2 Pocahontas and they are good dogs...one died from heat exhaustion and he was super catch and shortened the races quite a bit...
Since I have made that cross I have talked to quite a few folks about different plott bloodlines...and more than a few times I was told that they preferred Curtis Walker plotts over Eugene Walker (Pocahontas) Plotts...if looking at pictures I can tell you I most definitely like the looks of Curtis Walker plotts...
Right now I have a pup from Mike S. that goes by “Biggamejoe” on here...I am very pleased with her...she is out of Mike Cauleys line of dogs that Mike s. breeds and hunts...

One of the half Pocahontas pups I gave to a friend as a blood tracking dog and another I gave to a friend of mine who is a ranch hand that Hog hunts quite a bit and that is now his lead strike dog...has caught many hogs with him...
