I've always used Ivomec. Now it's hard to come by. I got my cattleman to order me some and specified I wanted name brand. His vet sent generic. He said he couldn't get ivomec now. Will the generic be ok? All the articles in my cattle magazine say only use name brand. So that's what I've always used on my dogs.

Generic works fine... I've used the Normectin brand for years and my dogs have always been heartworm free.

The last three times I went to Tractor Supply, the name brand shelf was empty... not sure why.

I've used the generic for years and was deworming some cows and calves one day I ran out of generic and used merial brand, I was giving it sub cue and nones of the cows reacted to the generic, the ones given merial brand were acting as if it was burning their necks and would go immediately to pond, in he summer months I give it to my dogs IM and tried the merial brand I had left over and they sure nuff acted like they were in discomfort for about 5 mins, they never acted that way with generic, never had a problem with it but never seen animals respond to it like they did the merial brand, this was plain ivomectin not the plus...
