Finally a start to the season. We get marching orders to go to pueblo yesterday, launch the heli and bout half way, they get told to RTB. At 5:30pm, get told to get packed for durango and by 7pm, a fire starts between rifle and grand junction and was told to inpack, gonna work that fire. 10pm, get a call to pack back up, going to durango at day break. 3x of humping a 380lb snorkel in and out of the acft is enough. Hopefully we launch for good. 2wks in rifle is enough and its time to start making money and putting the fires out.
If any of yaw have family in this area, i hope they are OK, gonna try and keep their property/structures from going up in flames.

So, after showing up, dropping support crew and baggage off, they go out and do a 2.4hr cycle and its done. Was hopping to get a couple days on the fire, but our 2600 gallon water monster put a whoopin on the flames.

Rueben, here are some pics. My wife found the 1s were they are in the dip site, courtesy of Robert Stewart

Our bucketed competitor hovering in the background, waiting to come in to the dip

Smoke seen from the durango airport, with Billings coming in for gas.
