I have no idea which is the most used on hogs, but I can tell you some that do good on hogs. Cajun on here has some great ones, west virginia plotts I have seen do well. I have been told Ganette I probably spelled that wrong does well. We have had good luck with Cody II crosses.I feel most well bred bear dogs will run hogs as well.

Thanks for the reply I have heard a few names thrown around over years I knew Oval Roberts and I think he told me he hunted Sizzling Heat I have heard Crockett and a couple others while hunting with folks but wondered if there was a certain line that produced consistent hog dogs I see Cajuns dogs and I for sure like them and he definitely catches hogs with them. I would like to try one.

I don't think you could go wrong with Cajun, as he's been producing hog catching Plotts as long or longer than pretty much anyone. I've always wanted to try one as well.

Jason, a word of advice if you're going to buy a Cajun plott get it directly from Cajun.I just got done with a 6 month BS battle to get my money back on a couple of "Guaranteed" Cajun Plotts from a member on this board (not Cajun himself I want to clarify that once again).I bought a 3 yr old registered male that was supposed to be a really good dog fast on track colder nose gritty and a pup I had thousands of dollars wrapped up in these dogs.I was thinking I might add a little colder noses to my yard with them.First hunt after acclimating the grown male I brought him and my 18 month old cur gyp to the woods I found a hell of a good track and turned him out,NOTHING so I turn Rye loose she trails it 800yds into the swamp and jumps he then goes to her cause he was walking around the road listening for a bark. When he got there the hog broke Rye left him in the dust at 900 he was at 400 opening every breath when she bayed again at 1mile he was at .5 opening every breath. So I figured oh well first hunt although I was not happy at all.Second hunt I took him ,Rye ,Cypress and one of my 10month old pups we finally found a few tracks at 9:30 turn him out first same thing doesn't go more than 40yds turn the curs loose including the pup and they leave on the tracks he's running up and down the road listening at 650yds they jump the hogs he hauls butt in there at a mile the curs were more than a half mile in front and he was barking every breath the hogs split 2 curs went with a big sow and Rye went with a big barr solo the 3yr old plott I paid thousands for went back to the buggy. We caught both hogs severall hrs later and even that 10 month old pup stayed in there the whole time.Strike 2 for the plott. The third time I just brought him I had some hogs coming to a feeder feeder was set at 6am I get there at 7am all the corn was gone hog tracks everywhere and he NEVER LEFT.No big deal this respected board member gave me a guarantee hahaha.Oh and this was the 12th day I owned the dog a very fair trial period.I called him and said the exact story I posted he didn't have my money. It took 6 months of me harrassing him and eventually his wife to finally get my money back in tiny payments dealing with lies no shows and unanswered text and voicemails.I still never recovered my shipping expenses and the worste part is I sold 2 good dogs from my dogs to get the money.
My buddy Muddy in ga has a couple plotts directly from Cajuns yard he likes but beware of buying them from anyone other than Cajun cause it was a nightmare for me.

Dang that sucks. I feel like that a lot of guys think there dogs are dam good but don’t realize how good the spot there hunting are. Not knocking anyone or there dogs. If you catch a lot of hogs there are a lot there a very average dog will do good where there are plenty hogs. Now not answering your calls and all that just shows a lack of morals.

The problem with papered dogs,,,is the same ole story that has been happening for yrs... Dishonest people throw paperwork on just any dog just to sell the dog under the pretext of what another man has tried to build up.... Mr. Mike has spent yrs trying to create a line of dogs that produce the best results for himself and for folks... Truth be told ,, Mr. Mike along with others has come across some pups out of his line that didn't succeed as other did out of the same litter... Now the difference between dog peddlers and hog dog owners ,, is that they will only breed the two to which the best traits are carried. Not for money purposes ,,but for hunting purposes...
I know I have been burned by the Trial of the hog dog.. Never again will I trial a hog dog if I don't know the person. This site has taught be that,,,1100 dollars worth,, it don't bother a feller these days to look you in the eyes and lie ...lol.....they sleep good at night anyway...

I'm no Plott guy but I've hunted with many plots, from my coon hunting days to hog hunting. The Weems bred Plotts are by far the best I've seen. If I'm not mistaken, Cajuns Plotts carry a good bit of Weems breeding and he's done a good job of building his own family of dogs.

Jason, no way shape or form or fashion do I claim to have my crap together, but my first set of dogs were half Plott half cur dog that’s because I bought them from a very respectable dog guy that I went hunting with him for the first time almost exactly 15 years ago. This man had some good plott dogs and good cur dogs and he found out this cross was exactly what he wanted. Long story short about a year ago I got a Male plott dog from him that is Cajun breed bout 2.5 or 3 and I bought a female that came straight from Cajun and got lucky she was already started.(got lucky on that) bout 10 months old . So after alil time cause I got these dogs during deer season last year- I don’t hunt during deer season - after deer season ended we hunted the fire out these two dogs - they were good dogs out the gate and they both were just like my friend and Cajun said they would be. Cajun is a good guy and he ain’t got his name by doing people wrong- he got good dogs and I believe he tells the truth if he sells a dog- he got good dogs cross the board and they do good on hogs - I guess what I’m trying to say is for a long long time plott dogs have been used for Bear and hogs and they have done well in it- I believe bottom catches hogs that don’t want to be caught -I can tell you something-that I call my female Aunt Jemima and my buddy’s will ask did I turn Aunt Jemima loose ?!?!?! Cause they won’t to be home at lunch cause she ain’t gone quit- I am a cur dog man don’t get me wrong you can look back at my ol red post and I had red cur dogs that I loved a dang lot and they were hog dogs - tracking baying machines but on some running hogs that would sho nuff run I would loose sometime and I hate to loose so that why I got my plott dogs and have really enjoyed hunting em- like said from cracker if you gone spend time and money on a dog - check your sources- Cajun is a good one - but there are also other guys with good plott dogs - the key is if you can get your hands on them. The plott cross dogs do good as well- I’m fixing to do one myself Good luck

Been reading a lot on the net and Cajun pops up alot I have gotten where I like to hear the race more and more I have caught way more hogs with these babbling dogs that I did with strait curs. I have never owned a full blooded hound but I love to hear them do their thing.
