My cousins and I made a round this morning in a spot my cousin picked up for me. We pulled up to a spot and casted 2 dogs and a pup. After about about 10 mins we could tell the dogs were liking something. One opened up, then the others and then we had a race. They ran for about 10 minutes and showed treed.  Well they were not far shy of 600 yards and we knew the walk would be terrible.  We ran the boat around and got to the lake Bc we decided it would be much easier walking through the water than swamp lol. We were about 300 yards from the bank and saw what looked to be a hog. It was coming towards us so we used a pole to ease that way. The hog kept coming and so did we. This hog got about 30 foot from us and stopped. When she did we sent my catch dog and he hit her.  It was definitely a wild catch lol. We killed her tied her up and the whole time we were listening to the others bayed.  I knew it had to be a good hog due to I had a year old puppy in there that hasn’t found respect for a big hog yet and he was baying. We got about 40 yards and sent the catch dog and we had another caught hog...

Sorry for the late reply.  There is a slim chance of gators being out right then and it was also only a few feet deep. But gators to hold near by.

Not to many places down here that hold water that don’t hold gators, this time of year their metabolisms are extremely slow and they don’t feed nearly as much and aren’t as aggressive and are just sluggish, although a friend of mine was hunting on the Bogue Chitto NWR and got a video of a big gator taking down a deer this time last year, good hunt and hogs Scotty...

Our gators here, especially as far south as we are, feed all year long but this time of year they’re not nearly as active and are sluggish, now me saying this I’ll have one eaten as soon as I hunt the swamp again...

A good friend of mine who works at a gator farm told me, it has to be near 80 degrees for gators to feed consistently. We were out in the marsh and it was about 65 degrees and my friends hat blew off. By the time I got the boat turned around and going back to the hat a 4' gator had swam out to it. He was for sure in feeding mode.
