You Texans might want to get political since you have a bill that has made it through committee to totally ban tethering of dogs statewide. It also bans the use of plastic barrels as doghouses.

Well guess this is a good a time as any to introduce myself.

My name is Monty Hanson, I was a hang around back in the beginning of the Texas Dog Hunters association I wanted to learn about hunting hogs with dogs and I learned a lot from TDHA members
I was invited on a few hunts and did some volunteer work and fund raising for the big hunt competition TDHA did back then in HAlletsville
I learned enough to figure out me and the way I was living was not cut out for it, too much time spent working on the road.
fast foreward to today and I have spent the last 3 years figuring it out how I want to hunt and at the moment I have a loose baying BMC and a good catchdog prospect I got from RyanTBH (Thanks again!)
and am looking to ad some more dogs as soon as po$$ible.

I am not on facebook but it https://www.texasworkingdogalliance.org/ seems to be more active there which is no good for me as I don't do social media.

This is from the TWDA Facebook page

 http://the-cavalry-group.rallycongress.com/ctas/5c91922427e27-new-draft-campaign?fbclid=IwAR30e2eIHiH3R4BCuXtcq1R891nKPlBrbsrxOdQABn5B8xu94m1a8W-9DC4

It gives more info on the bill

I plan on doing some phone calls because my handwriting stinks and I am no fan of snailmail when it comes to elected officials.

I have been reading this forum for quite some time I plan on filling out my profile and hopefully posting up some pics of my dogs.

Monty... we may have met or even hunted together back then. Did you come to any of the group hunts in the national forest around New Waverly?

Welcome to the board... look forward to some pics and stories of your hunts.

Thanks Mike I met you at one of the TDHA events at Halletsville, but never had the pleasure of hunting with you.

I hope to have some stories worth telling soon, I finally have permission to run my dogs on a small place in Nacodogches and am working on a few more.

I am gonna download the taptalk thing and try to post up some pics.

I wanted to just thank Mr.Mason for everything he has done for me an many others.

I hope anyone who reads this thread takes the time to google your state representative and give him a call about the tethering law because before you know it
there will be animal "rights" nutjobs driving around in the country trying to take away peoples perfectly happy hunting dogs who see more miles offlead in one hunt than most dogs do all year....

I certainly hope you Texans take enough interest and stop this because if they can pass this stuff in Texas we are going down a road that ain't gonna end well.

You fellas better do your best to get out in front of it as much as possible. Make the call, or if nothing else click on that second link and send an email or both.

Power in numbers, if they get thousand of emails and calls they will pay attention. Good luck!

270 views it would be a good start if we could send the politicians that "work" for us a couple hundred emails and phone calls.

Every time your legislature is in session your rights are at risk, if y'all don't take some interest you're gonna be trying to play catchup when someone comes and takes your dogs. It is happening all over this country.

It's in full swing down here they just banned greyhound racing for claims of animal cruelty and that was big big money down here.If they can take that dog huntin will be easy. There were three tracks within 30 miles of me one was owned by the Daytona speedway and a brand new casino style track probably less than 5 years old big big money facility.

I was heart broken when I found out the tracks had been shut down, from the time I was 2 until 18 I spent every summer I'm Florida at my grandmothers in Panama City, she lived right on St. Andrew bay, we would visit the track in Ebro several times a week because I LOVED it, I couldn't wait to take my son this coming summer, he'll be 6, and at the age he could remember it and appreciate it, I hate to be the pessimist in the bunch but our way of life is quickly coming to an end, all throughout the US, all in the name of progress, there's more and more of these, "tree hugger" type people getting out and rallying and voting for legislature to end any forms of hunting and dog hunting is the easiest to take away, I follow most all dog related issues throughout the country and every year there's more legislature brought up to end the use of sporting dogs, I had the same thought as you Cracker, if they ended a big money business in FLa over the claim of animal cruelty then dog hunting will be even easier because the cash flow there is only limited to a small market, and using working dogs in Florida for any type of game is as deeply embedded as the term "cracker" is, people I urge everyone of y'all to pay attention to changes in county ordinances because that's where it starts, the parish I live in is a rural parish but now we have a leash law where you can't let your dogs run free, I live in violation of this law everyday and will continue to do so, our sherif lives less than 5 miles from me and his son and I grew up together, he stopped me at the store one day and asked me about my dogs, I was as polite as I could be when I told him it was BS and that I wouldn't abide by it and that should be the least of his concerns when we have heroin epidemic that's taking people's lives but yet they turn a blind eye and want to go after something easy and harass the working class law abiding citizens...

This is exactly true goose. Tooooo many people in the US have never seen food processed or put 2 and 2 together about where it comes from. All they know is what the first person that took the time to tell them told them. It might be positive and it might be negative. Myself, I try very hard to take people hunting that have never been. I  go above and beyond to do my part to make sure my animals are treated respectfully by me and my hunting partners, be it the way they get handled or the way ANY injuries are taken care of. I make sure to make certain things get noticed. I make sure whoever is hunting with me understands this too. I don't want them telling war stories about oh remember when ole lucky got killed or ole lucky had this or that happen. I want them to minimize the negatives. I want these people that talk to other people that talk to more people to have a positive and respectable opinion of our way of life and what we do. This is what I was talking about or getting at when we had the our debate about posting pics. Post, brag, and be proud but be smart. If we are so proud and enjoy so much what we are doing then we should do what we can to make sure and protect it. We all have a responsibility to take care of our sport just like we so our families. Not trying to start a other debate just giving MY opinion.
