Thought this might be a good topic. I’m making a new medical kit and was looking for some ideas. If you have a medical kit you keep for the dogs, can you post pictures of your bag set up with a description of what is in it?

I have put together my own but Ed at Tusker's Magazine has one all ready together and you don't have to run all over town to get stuff. It's about $100, not bad considering all that is in it. I bought a second one so I have one on my 4-wheeler and one on my SXS and I don't have to move them or forget it on the other machine. I also have a larger one in the truck.

I just got the 52 piece cut kit from hardcore hog dogs, not a bad lot but there’s more I want to add to it and I want it in a better bag that is easier and faster to access stuff

Just a little trick I use also is anything I don't want to get wet I will put in my vacuum sealer and seal it up. Works great. I only put items in a single bag unless you are going to use them at the same time like blood stop and maxi-pad or tampon. And I do those in single packets also.

Thanks for the tip! The kit I got came in a little fanny pack and everything is in ziplock bags. I want a good medical bag that has a setup where I can organize everything and not just have stuff crammed together

The obvious stuff like staple guns and sutures, guase pads, a diaper or 2, vet wrap , needles and syringes of different sizes, tweezers, Medical scissors, forseps, razor blades, betadine, antibiotics, lidocaine, ace, dex, preparation H, and zip lock bags to store stuff in or put over chest cavity punctures. I think that's the bulk of it.

One thing I’d add guys would be a roll of electric tape. Comes in handy if a dog wants to try to bite while you tend to them. We also keep B12 complex in ours too.

Years back I purchased a cut kit and can honestly say that I have never used 90% of it and I do/did run rough dogs. The following has taken care of me of the years and if I couldn't handle it with the stuff listed I made the trip 10 minutes down the road to the vet. 1) Staple guns.... lots of em 2) sutures 3) vet wraps 4) plastic bags of some variety for covering sucking chest wounds 5) betadine 6) medical scissors 7) medical tape Super Glue ( I have used it ALOT over the years) 9) Blood Stop (also used ALOT over the years) 10) Razor blades ( I keep 15-20 havalon blades in my kit) I keep quite a few different antibiotics, dex and B12 at the house. But as far as a in the field cut/wound kit goes the above list has kept me pretty well covered over the past decade.

That kit is along the lines of what I want to put together. I still need to add a few things. My land is a 35 minute ride to the vet, and they aren’t open for emergency hours. I’ve been lucky so far, I run all rough dogs and have never had to do anything but spray some vetericyn on smaller cuts. I also don’t catch a lot of big boars though. I’m not sure why, we just normally catch smaller boars or sows. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

From what we’ve seen the B12 just seems to put a lil pep back in their step. I’m sure it does more than I know but it’s seemed to help ours out.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk betadine is a skin disinfectant, if one of mine gets cut and it gets dirty I will mix betadine and warm water and scrub the wound before I sew/staple it up. Just another way to mitigate the spread of infection. Using betadine, hydrotheraphy, vetericyn and penicillin I rarely have to worry about infection in my mutts
