Well boys and squirrels, I caught him! That “BIG HOG” that one land owner we all have is always seeing. Ms.Savage texted me yesterday evening and told me that dang ole big hog was at her feeder behind the house again this morning, my bossman/uncle was down and he’s been wanting to go hog hunting down here whether he will admit it or not so I told her we would try him about day break. wake up about 6, I guess 6:45-7 we are coming down the sendero looking at the feeder, not 100 yards away, and this “BIG” dumb hog walks out right in front of us. He realizes we are there and is very confused, not really sure what he wants to do. He crosses the sendero at no more than a trot, goes in the brush, comes back out about 10 yards closer to us, trots back across the sendero and goes right back where he came from. I get out turn sketch and her pup loose. Sketch takes the track backwards to the right, makes the loop he did, comes out full sprint lines him out and she’s gone. 7 month old puppy in her hip pocket the entire time. 60-70 yards in they start mouthing off. 110 yards they sit up bayed. PUP IS HAMMERING! Sketch didn’t have near the confidence this little gyp pup has at 7 months old. We ease in there, I’m smiling ear to ear because this pup is gonna be a barn burner and I already know it. Watch them bay for a few minutes and smoke Mr. Big Hog down. As most of these hogs in the past go, he ends up being 165 lb boar hog. But he was a great one for the puppy to be on and a hog is a hog is a hog. And Ms.Savage was tickled pink to know I got the hog that was rooting up her yard. Might go try another here if I get done plowing in time.

Sounds like a quick successful hunt. Any time you go and catch one you are after makes it even better for me anyways. To top it off a 7 month pup was there doing its thing! Good job and fine pup!

Thanks guys. Hope y’all caught the little bit of sarcasm about the big hog: I don’t know how many times I’ve gotten a call about a huge hog from a land owner, show up and I catch the huge 150 lb hog they saw. As for the puppy she is right where she needs to be, proud of her for sure
