Would a Ford F250 Diesel be good to hunt with?

As long as you have good roads to drive on.  The diesels are not very quite, and them starters are expensive from all the start'n and stoppin.  I did the math and realized its cheaper to put front ends and starters in my toyota rather than the big diesels. Jus me 2 cents

Plus if you get off in the mud, diesels are alot heavier and more likely to get stuck

Stay away from mud or wet grass if you go with diesel, especially if it is a 2 wheel drive. It will sink like a rock and it'll take a dozer to get it out. I have a 99 superduty 4x4 with 35 swampers and thats just to keep from getting stuck in my yard.lol

exactly! plus it was 2wd and had street tires. I have a buddy that has a 05 dodge hemi with 35 mud grapplers, and if he gets in the ditch he has trouble coming back out, even after the toyota already showed him how its done. I think Toyotas are the best hunting trucks: light weight, quiet, great mpg, very reliable, awesome 4x4, they are just alittle more pricey.

Don't take it the wrong way. I love my superduty, 4 inch lift with 35 swampers. I'm just letting you know that they aren't the best mud truck in the world. I had a 95 tacoma regular cab 4x4 on 33 swampers and it was pretty much unstoppable. Only way to get it stuck was to high center it.

Hey fellas, speaking of toyotas, does anyone have a good 22r engine? I have a 81 4x4 pickup I was trying to sell with bad engine, but didn't have any buyers. Thinking about redoing the motor and using it.

I hunt out of my 4 dr chevy. 1/2 ton z-71s have always been popular for hunting. Closest you can get to the small size of a toyota, with a V8, and fullsize cab. Toyota's aren't down with the big people like myself. Cheesy

My z-71s will go around a plowed corn field or what ever when its wet. Usually if they can't make it... its too wet to hunt any ways.

Bottom line is a diesel is heavy in the front end! If yours is 2 wheel drive I'd say no, if it is a 4x4 I'd say be careful where you go!

My dad had a 2 wheel drive powerstoke and I seen it get stuck in the wet grass. I'm not even joking, front ends are very heavy. By the time we pulled it out it was buried to the rear axle.

I have a dodge 3500 4x4 on 35's with a performance trany and that barely gets me through some pastures. Diesels are not made for huntin rigs, they are made to pull your huntin rig.

On another side note, the ruts you make with a diesel (if you make it through) might upset the land-owner and as we all know none of us want that to happen.

Best huntin truck ive had was a diesel. 97 dodge 2500 single cab cummins with a 5 spd w/ 37's. Ive had two dodge diesels, a toyota, and a f150 and by far ive liked the dodge the most.
