4ml. of Termidor or Taurus against the lay of the hair from hips to collar about every 30 days, keep them dry for 48 hrs, never find a tick on them unless it is on the outside of the hair right after coming out of the woods and it will be acting crazy. Have used it on pups running loose just past weaning and bred females with no ill affects. If you "shop" you can find it for about  40 dollars for a 20 oz. bottle on line and be able to do lots of dogs for a long time. Seems to keep fleas off as well, haven't had any fleas in the last 3-4-5 years since I've been using it, but fleas aren't real bad in my country. Did have cats bring fleas in my dog feed shed and an old house but none showed up on the dogs, sprayed with dominion and killed them out of the buildings.

We get tics bad in the local hills here, downright unbearable once it warms up. We were pulling ticks of our dogs a week after the last trip out, thanks for the tip on the termidor.

The active ingredient is fipronil, you can buy fipronil products for dogs but it would cost several dollars per dog.

I just pic them off and dont treat with any chemical. For fleas Bayer tree and shrub from any hardware store where the first ingredient is Imiad... is the same ingredient as front line, I put a cap full on the dogs back or belly and have them avoid water for 24 hrs just like you do with front line and it works great except a $15 bottle lasts my 6 dogs several years

Yes it is, it and Termidor are identical for ingredient "fipronil" and percentage. The stuff make em squeel mentioned is the very same as the Dominion "active ingredient Imidlaclorpid" I mentioned for fleas in the above post. If I have to put Dominion on the dogs "haven't had to in a long time" I used 15-20 ml and make effort to get it to the skin, one treatment asways knocked"em out until next round.

Both these products are actually Termiticides along with a long list of other insects they kill, but if you buy it for dogs it is ridiculously priced.

I use to use topicals. I learned to put it on their belly because it got to the skin easier. It made it much more effective.

I agree with you t-dog for the Imidlaclorpid as it gets in their blood stream through the skin. The Fipronil works through the oil glands and does better down the back. I usually wipe the syringe on the top of their ears in the summertime and it seems to keep the flies from biting them there. In wintertime I put a little inside their ear flaps to keep the ear mites down that they invariably would get out of the bedding, I don't bed them in summer, so don't ever have any ear mites in summer.

I ordered a bottle of the Taurus and treated all the dogs yesterday evening.
Last week the flies showed up something fierce and have been biting their ears. Went out to feed this evening and not a flie one.

I haven’t used topicals in quite a few years...I mix Biden XTS and yard guard 50/50 and spray the back yard and kennel once or twice a year and it gets about every bug, flea or tick...a generic version of zimecterin for ear mites if needed but ear mites haven’t been an issue in quite a while...

I don't worry about them getting them around home but in the woods, it is a debated topic as to how long a tick has to be on a dog to transmit some of the tick borne diseases. After losing 4 Plotts  several years ago to Erlichia and a couple of Cur Dogs prior to that before we'd ever heard of it or knew what it was, never even heard of lymes in a dog until some years ago. Probably was just undiagnosed on the few that did get it before then. I am somewhat fanatic about ticks on the dogs. Seems like the tick borne diseases have gotten much worse in the last 10 years for man and animal alike.

I agree...

I know of a few Doggers that have serious tick problems for their dogs on account they live out in the woods...
