My main man Bleu passed early February from heart cancer at 9 1/2 years old. Two weeks before he got in one of my female’s pen and I found him standing panting next to her and her all wiggly and jumping happy to see me. Pulled him out of the pen and shamed him on the Facebook for trying to get unapproved booty. I didn’t know he was sick at this time.
Some of y’all suggested I get him collected and stored so I had an appointment set. He died in a Tuesday, 2 days after noticing a problem and 2 days before his appointment. Broke me up pretty bad. I didn’t turn him loose to catch on our first hunt this year which is weird because he’s always been my go to catch dog. Well. Was. Pacman ended up going 600 yards to a split and broken bay then caught himself a hog. I’m sure Bleu would have died on that.
Well he apparently got him some nookie before I could separate them and in about 10 days I should have 7-8 baby Bleu pups. In 9 years he had never gotten into a pen with a female, always penned by them because that’s all I had was females. Pretty much still do except for 3 outta....the rest lol. I’m hoping all goes well during whelp, I’m quite anxious. To paraphrase one of my favorite movie lines: “Not sure if it’s 98% excited and 2% scared, or 98% scared and 2% excited.”

Dang I hate to hear that. Sounds like a higher power had a helping hand in things. I wish you luck with the litter. Sorry about ole Bleu.
