That just looks like a comfortable, useful blade. Love the brute de forge look with the bone scales. Well done, you have a good teacher!

Fine piece of equipment rite there. You’ll be able to hand that down for generations to come.

Thanks Guys. People have no idea how much labor goes into making handmade knives. Just the hand sanding is so time consuming, I really like this 5160 steel and just tempering the edge where it leaves the Hamon. I could have polished the dark look off but I kind of like that darker color after it is dipped in the acid.

Forgot to add that Mike is a great teacher and really stands over my shoulder watching and explaining everything. The forging comes pretty easy for me having carried a forge in my truck for 40 years but the rest of it is a new learning curve for me. They always said you cannot teach a old dog new tricks. I think that was started by a old lazy dog. lol

That’s really sweet Cajun I love a custom knife - I have a pretty good collection- I would never to sell a one if I made em on account of what I think there worth versus what someone would actually pay for one lol

Ha Muddy. I know what you mean. To Mike the Knife it is no big deal to just start another knife. The first few I started and he told me to trash them just about broke my heart. I finally made three that I totally finished. This is the fourth. I would really be behind the eight ball if he was not there and I was learning strictly on my own. Puts me way ahead watching him and having him explain things. Put up some pics. of your knives. I would really like to see them.

Good looking set of knives Muddy. I have a couple I bought from a knife maker in Wisc. that look similar to your 2nd and 3rd knife. Make no mistake tho, any knife I make, I make it to use.

When someone tells me the knife they got from me is going on the wall never to be used, I make a mental note not to make them another. Lol

Man I'm a sucker for any type or style of handmade knives and it's a hobby I'd like to give a try one day, Cajun there used to be an old man that worked for kostmeyer construction name Joe Savoie that I bought a good bit from years ago, it was kinda like a weekly treat to myself on payday I'd always buy one from him either for myself or as a gift for a friend or family member, I saw an awesome one made from an old railroad spike once and one from some 2" cable that came off a crane, those two really sunk into my memory....

Goose, I have been fooling around with it for a few years but just did not have the time. Only finishiing 4 knives in that amount of time shows my interests were elsewhere but I am going to semi retire in Oct. and that will free up a lot of time. Made some sheaths for them and that was a learning experience. I'll post some pics. later.

That leatherwork looks good, it takes awhile to get them to fit right. I have had a few culls.

Cajun your knives are turning out really nice I like the inward curve on your Skinner , Sheaths look really nice too. My father in law recently gave me this knife it was His Daddy's He told me a friend of his Daddy's He Hunted with in East Tennessee made it for Him a long time ago the quality of the steel is really good and it holds an edge very nicely.
