Real bulldogs

I know it’s been talked about 1000 times but here we go - tdogs post made me want  to post on bulldogs -
Very hard to get ahold of good bulldogs - can’t buy one I’ve tried - bout like anything else really
Got to raise your own


I had real bulldogs for a long time and they got killed out and I never did much breeding so struggled for awhile with bulldogs - actually getting my feet back under me if you will - me and cracker got pretty good plan on keeping the right bulldog- using his dogs over on mine and vise Versa should result in red real catch dogs - my first passion in dogs was bulldogs so I take this very seriously
Here is a pic of what is breed to do it and do it hard!
The momma to these pups better get use to little ones cause we have already planned another breeding and we will be close to where we need to be I think
What sucks is I have to keep her put up and not hunt her - she Is a nice little catch dog

We looking at dogs to be between 50-55 lbs
We have been planning this for some time and finally making some head way
Hard fast mouth ear dogs that is easy on the eyes as well
Several really good catch dogs are and will be in the pedigree in these pups and the ones to come

Those are some cracker jacks muddy. I like both parents but the daddy is sure enough gorgeous. I hope y’all accomplish what you are trying for. Describe their style for us. Like my male, he goes in fast. A lot of dogs would be out of control at his pace in my opinion but it seems his feet can’t land wrong. He’s an exceptional athlete. He is average speed wise. He catches with the ear extremely far back in his jaw (I love that) and couldn’t be anymore ear minded. I like that 95% of the time. My old family were faster in a foot race and would grab a running hog in the butt until they squatted then move to the ear. I loved that because the race was a lot shorter most times. This male will run to the head even from behind and sometimes that means running a fast hog or a smart hog further. Smart hogs can juke a dog by turning hard away from them or hitting the brakes at the right time and causing the catch dog to do a fly by. Then they gotta play catch up again. My old family also took better angles on runners. They didn’t run directly at a hog, they ran where they were headed to, kinda like a quarter back throwing a pass. Most of them didn’t go in as fast as this male and most of them would  take the path of least resistance which lead to easier catches and fewer busted bays as well as not getting hung up trying to get there. I guess you would say at this point my male is more braun than brains in his style but he is smart and I do see improvement and that he’s learning. It just came more natural to the old family.

Dang good looking bulldogs you sure right on it's hard to get good bulldogs we trying to bred little family of em to I think we going be close to what we looking for with the ones on the ground now I like females 50-55 lbs males 60-65 got high hopes for these I hope yalls turn out like you want they sure look the part

Tdog - I like the way you look at your catchdogs and know how they do things - I had to learn some about it over the years from a being young pup myself with piss and vinegar and only wanting to catch a hog in my veins lol I didn’t watch dogs and what they did as long as a hog was at the end - lobos enjoy watching and changing things if I can - with that said these dogs are a run in but not blast - my gyp is very laid back
Almost alli shy - she will follow behind you i till you stop - move to front and like said run in but not race which I like and then hook up - we luckily had a few bays in open creeks this year and a guy hunting with us video everything - she got a nice little style - when she was young the first hog I showed her I had been dealing with some bulldogs not catching the ear and was over it !!!! Well I was told she should be a ear dog so I let some pups bay this hog it was bout 100 lbs and I walked her up close to the rear end of the hog and turned her loose - she slid up the whole hog amd grabbed a ear - I did that several times and several ways and she always caught the ear
The daddy to the pups is kinda same but alilttle faster into the bay- he more intense and will get fired up - strong strong mouth - he good at hitting his mark-
I want just as good bulldog as the dog that finds and bays - one can’t finish without the other - you know that tho

Also on the health of the pups - well that thanks goes to some of the gentleman on here - several years ago before I joined the forum I would just look and read - I took everyone’s pup worming tips and have been doing that couple years now and it makes a nice healthy dog for sure to be able to use

Slow motion and watching video is really a good thing you are doing…and starting pup on ears is also a good thing to do…knowing what makes each dog tick is good to know when it comes to hunting and breeding better dogs…

Walk In and catch
Speed don’t mean nothing to me on a bulldog in that sense - turn em loose as close as possible -close yardage - if they fast and good or slow and good don’t matter as long as they connect right
We just talking how they leave your feet to the bay
But I guess if you had to pick I’d rather have a fast one just in case one slipping cross a big field

I like foot speed for those hogs that go out the back door as the catch dog is coming through front or the occasional hog crossing an open field. We were talking about the catch dog conformation the other , me and a buddy, and I told him I like a particular type but one of the best I’ve seen was slow and sorry built. If a hog was going to get away he had to leave before that dog got there. If he ever had opportunity to engage the hog it was caught and the only way it was getting lose was to cut his head off or the handler get him off. Tuff as nails and super accurate with a great mouth.

 I hope you the best with them little firecrackers man...  they look the part already...   

But as far as the analyzing part goes..  a feller cant do enuff of it I believe.. Just like pairing up the right strike dogs ,, the catch dog u sending to em can make or break the work that they just accomplished.. Plus make us walk more going to 3 different bays when it couldve been just one ... 

Them slow waddled tip toeing type catch dogs is what I like..  the ones that are thinking about how it needs to hit their target...Not a bull in a china closet type but one that is gonna sneak in whatever way it needs to so the target dont even know its fixin to get smoked..  They dont make many like this and I tell my son all the time ..  dont get spoiled to walking in to one bay and one catch,, cause it aint gonna be that way all the time.. 

Just like Good Presidents,,, they dont make em but every couple of decades... LOL..
