Made a hunt with Larry Smith, Charles Gaines, Mike the knife and had some friends from Iowa Greg and Greg Jr.
Started off at 29 degrees with about 15 mph winds and let me tell you that is cold in a boat.
Got a rig from the dogs and put out and they ran this little shoat for about a hour and caught it.
Put out in another spot and Charlie put out Rue and Mike the knife put out Jack. They trailed a ways and jumped. After running about a hour I got Bluebell and Hank into them. Ran another hour and bayed. Only problem was there was no way we could get to them without a airboat or a helicopter and we were fresh out of both. We listened to them bay for 3 hours and finally it broke out of there. Ran it almost another hour and bayed. We got within a 135 yards and walked in and caught him. Nice boar that put three dogs out of commission for a couple of weeks. Those dogs were on this hog from about 8;00 to 3:00.

That’s good dog work there. No matter the experience level, that kind of work makes them better dogs. I like the fact that they stayed after it even though they had some adversity to overcome.

Man that’s when a man is in a bind when u can’t get to em in that amount of time.   I’ve had some dogs in my early yrs that would’ve quit that hog and been licking on my boots by then.  Lol.   As long as they heal up that’s the price to pay to catch them kind.  Good hog run for sure.

Very nice hunt. To me those are just as satisfying as catching a big one.

Man y’all sure get some big teeth in your neck of the woods! A hunt like that also shows you how well your breeding program is going. Sticking with a hog for that long is impressive for sure

In the marsh those hogs dont have the size that dry ground hogs have. Not a lot of mass but they sure make up for it in teeth.  I have about 6 or 7 dogs on injured reserved right now. Mike the knife has two and Charlie has two.

Thanks everybody.

Thanks USA for the kind words. A week of running the marsh and they dont look so good between the saw grass and the wounds but they will be fine.
